  • Examples of Current Projects:
    • Faculty members from the Brain Research Centre are currently involved in a variety of projects examining the neurological aspects of vocal communication, mental health and addictions. In particular, Dr. William Jia has partnered with the Shanghai Innovative Research Centre of Traditional Chinese Medicine to investigate neuroprotective and anti-depressant drugs developed from Chinese herbal medicines.
    • The Department of Family Practice is involved in several projects aimed at improving reproductive and maternal health care in India, Bangladesh and Nepal.
    • Dr. Yu Tian Wang of the Department of Medicine has established a partnership with Peking University in China and created the foundations of the China-Canada Joint Health Research Initiative.
    • Dr. Kendall Ho has been working closely with The WHO Collaboration Centre of Public Health Education, Shanghai, PRC, and The Eastern China Healthy Brain Research Institute on eHealth education and training over the past several years. eHealth explores the use of modern information and communication technologies to innovatively provide health services, health education and research.
    • Dr. Stuart MacLeod of the Department of Paediatrics is involved in several research projects in China examining emergency care, cardiovascular care and childhood infections including HIV.
    • Dr. Janice Eng of the Department of Physical Therapy is involved in two collaborations studying chronic disease and physical activity; one with National Taiwan University (Taiwan) and one with Hong Kong Polytechnique University (China).
